6 Days Northern Circuit Safari

After breakfast your driver-guide collects you from your Arusha hotel for the two-hour drive south to Tarangire National Park, famous for its ancient baobabs and the largest elephant population in northern Tanzania.

You enter the park in time for lunch and spend the afternoon on a game drive along the Tarangire River, where elephant families, giraffe, zebra, waterbuck and the resident lion prides gather to drink.

An early departure takes you west across the Rift Valley escarpment and past Lake Manyara, climbing to the highlands and skirting the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater on the way to the Serengeti.

You enter the Serengeti through the Naabi Hill Gate in the early afternoon and continue on a game drive into the Seronera Valley, big-cat country, as you make your way to camp.

A full day in one of the richest wildlife areas on earth. You leave camp at sunrise with a packed breakfast and picnic lunch, following the river lines and kopjes of the Seronera and Moru areas.

This is prime territory for lion prides, cheetah on the plains and leopard in the sausage trees. In migration season the plains fill with wildebeest and zebra as far as the eye can see.

A final morning game drive in the Serengeti before you turn east and climb back into the highlands. Lunch is on the road.

You arrive at the Ngorongoro Crater rim in the late afternoon. Sundowners with the caldera 600m below are the postcard moment of the trip.

An early breakfast, then the steep descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a 260km² caldera that holds one of the densest wildlife populations in Africa, including the endangered black rhino.

You spend the day on the crater floor with a picnic lunch, then climb back out and transfer to Lake Manyara for the night.

A morning game drive in Lake Manyara, groundwater forests, tree-climbing lions, elephant, hippo and huge flocks of flamingos in the shallows.

After a final picnic lunch you drive back to Arusha and either your hotel or the airport for onward flights.
